Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the easy and continuous treatment of the ends of an expanded base-body by impregnating tapes whose main component is a fiber of a given porosity with melted synthetic resin, and subjecting the thus treated tapes which are placed on the ends of the expanded base-body to pressure welding. CONSTITUTION:An expanded base-plate 3 is shifted on a conveyer on which a thin film of silicone grease is layed. While, a tape 5 is supplied on the ends of the former base-plate 3 from a roll 6 through a guide roll 7; the main component of the tape 5 has a porosity over 50% and is made of a natural fiber, a synthetic resin, a glass fiber, or a mixture of those materials. Nextly, a hot-melting adhesive like noncrystalline polypropylene is heated to be kept at a given temperature, and it is poured onto the tape 5 with the help of a plunger 8 to cause the tape 5 to be impregnated with the adhesive. The tape 5 and the base plate 3 are unified by means of a press roll 9, before the unified body is cooled and hardened, thus obtaining a base body 11 that has a treated part 10.
