Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve transfer efficiency under high humidity, by closely attaching transfer paper to an image bearing member surface before advancing the paper in a corona ion irradiation region to prevent unsharpening of a transferred image and separating the paper in the irradiation region.
CONSTITUTION: A folding angle of the end of shield 1 opening is set so as to render corona ion irradiation region A on the separation side of transfer paper 5 larger than that on the entrance side. Separation of paper 5 is carried out with separating blade 7 in region A, and paper 5 is closely attached to the surface of an image bearing member 6. The corona flow lines are shown in figure 2 with hatches, thus permitting formation of transfer image density of 1.15, in the case of the paper having 5% moisture content, and 0.78 image density at 10% moisture content.
