Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture simple and low cost three way joints by injecting pressurized medium between two copper pipes to form a projection and by opening this projection.
CONSTITUTION: A copper pipe 6 inwhich a fixed mandrel is inserted between the lower die 7 and the upper die 8 is provided, and oil 12 is injected and also a plunger 10 is pressed to insert, whereby applying an internal pressure to the oil 12. In the cavity 9 of the upper die 8, the wall thickness of the copper pipe 6 is pushed in to form a projection 13, which is then cut and an opening 15 is expanded, to which another copper pipe 14 is brazed 16 to make a three way joint 17. As mentioned above, the joint is manufactured by working only a portion of a copper pipe, so that the cost and man power can be reduced.
