Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable direct finding of the secondary differential at the point of central wavelength with no vibrating part by a method wherein two kinds of luminous flux having the same central wavelength taken out from a spectroscope by the use of two wide and narrow kinds of slits are made to pass through a sample and the secondary differential is found based on the difference in the output of photoelectric conversion of the luminous flux. CONSTITUTION:The output spectral image of a spectrophotometer for a finite slit width is the one obtained through convolution integration of an ideal spectral image by the device function and, therefore, it becomes a sharp triangle shown by dashed lines when the slit width is small, while a flat and wide triangle being obtained when the slit width is large. Accordingly, the secondary differential at a central wavelength is obtained from the difference between these triangles. The light from an illuminant 1 is passed through the slits A3 and A3' of a spectroscope 3 and the slits A2 and A2' of another spectroscope 2 having twice the width of the former alternately through the intermediary of a rotary mirror B and further is passed through a sample 5 through the intermediary of another rotary mirror B', and the secondary differential is found from the difference between the two signals through the intermediary of a photoelectric transducer 6, a synchronous rectifier 7 and a subtraction circuit 8. Thereby, the secondary differential can be found directly at the point of central wavelength with no vibrating part.
