Abstract

PURPOSE: To normalize the rolling work, by giving a difference to the roll gaps and the roll bending forces on the work side and the drive side under the no-load condition, and by axially shifting the shift roll, at carrying out the off-center rolling work.

The roll bending force Fw on the work side is made larger than the roll bending force Fd on the drive side; hereby, the roll gap on the work side is made relatively small. Next, the shift roll 9 is shifted to the off-center direction. Hereby, the distortion of the work roll and the asymmetry of the flat deformation between the work roll and the shift roll are almost liquidated.
