Abstract

PURPOSE: To complete the machining of a crankshaft by one setting by a method wherein the pin part of the crankshaft and the main journal part thereof are reamed separately and the part to which the reaming can not be applied is worked by means of an end mill cutter.
CONSTITUTION: On one of a pair of cutter heads 8 is provided the 1st cutter 11 for working a pin part, and on the other the 2nd cutter 12 for working the main joural part, respectively, while on an auxiliary cutter head 15 is provided an end mill cutter 17 for working the main journal part. A crankshaft 4 being supported between chucks 3, reaming is applied to the pin part and a number of journal parts to the given dimensions by means of the cutters 11 and 12, and the part which the cutter can not reach is worked by the cutter 17.
