Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove burrs of a core of complex form surely and simply without producing defects on the casting surface, by placing the core of shots, and by attracting the shots with an electromagnet arranged above the core thereby raising the shots while rubbing the inner and outer surfaces of the core.
CONSTITUTION: A shell core 6 is placed on ferromagnetic shots 3 such as iron etc. which form a layer of constant thickness and conveyed by a conveyor 1. A plate 7, having an opening 7a a little smaller than the core, for inhibiting the floating of the core is placed above the core 6, and an ascendable or descendable electromagnet 8 suspended with springs 9 is arranged above the plate 7. When the electromagnet 8 is raised by applying an electric current, the shots 3 present under the core 6 are attracted by the magnet 8 and raised while rubbing the inner and outer surfaces of the core 6 which is inhibited from rising. At the same time, because shots rise one after another in a line, the burrs 6a on the surface of the core are removed. The shots are raised while being jolted because the magnet 8 is jolted up at a rising speed moderated by the springs 9, and moves while contacting closely with the surface of the core.
