Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the perfecly effective utilization of activated carbon by making the inflow pipe leading fuel vapor into an activated carbon layer larger than the diameter of a fuel vapor lead-in port and packing the activated carbon in this pipe as well.
CONSTITUTION: One end of a fuel vapor inflow pipe 12 is stuck to the position communicating with a fuel vapor lead-in port 9d, and the diameter of this pipe 12 is larger than the diameter of the lead-in port 9d, the lower end side of the former is insertionally disposed nearly at the center in an activated carbon layer 4. Hence, the fuel vapor flowed into the pipe 12 flows out uniformly from respective small hole groups 12aW12c and the lower end opening and flows in the activated carbon layer in the route of arrouws AWD. Here, the respective routes AWD for the vapor flowing in the activated carbon have approximate lengths; therefore, the entire part of the activated carbon layer 4 is utilized for adsorption and this improves adsorption capacity.
