Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve brightness of a projected picture, by filling up a transparent optical bonding material of a high refractive index between the aplanatic lens and the cathode-ray tube in the TV projecting unit which projects the picture of the cathode-ray tube onto the screen by a converging lens. CONSTITUTION:Bonding material 15 consisting of transparent liquid or adhesive having the same refractive index as aplanatic lens 14 is formed between black-and- white or color cathode-ray tube 11 and aplanatic lens 14. The video from lens 14 is projected onto screen 13 by converging lens 2. The aplanatic point of lens 14 is caused to agree with the center of the picture of cathode-ray tube 11, and therefore, distance (d) between the top of lens 14 and cathode-ray tube 11 is d=(1+1/n)r1 when the radius of curvature of lens 14 in the converging lens side and the refractive index are denoted as r1 and n respectively. Thus, the projection length is shortened in comparison with the conventional unit, and the picture near the optical axis can be reproduced faithfully without increment of spherical aberration because aplanatic lens 14 is used.
