Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to carry out a local analysis rapidly by irradiating with laser light an analytic local part of a metal sample in a reactive gas atmosphere and by extracting and estimating of contained elements as a gaseous compound.
CONSTITUTION: Metal sample 6 is installed in analytic chamber 7 and after analytic chamber 7 is purged by Ar gas, reactive gas if flowed from gas source 1 via flow control part 4. Light from laser light source 11 is stopped down thinnly through reflex mirror 10 and condenser lens 9 and led to sample 6 via a transmissive window. Elements residing at the irradiation part are made to react on the reactive gas to obtain a gaseous compound, which is extracted and sent to analyzer 12 for estimation. Light elements such as carbon and nitrogen can be estimated with sufficient sensitivity.
