Abstract
PURPOSE: To dispense with complicated equipment and facilitate the airtightness test, by injecting a prescribed quantity of liquefied gas into the pressure container, then evaporating the liquefied gas in the container and keeping it sealed up to a prescribed temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Different kinds of liquefied gas have different boiling points. The liquefied gas is liquid below its boiling point but gaeous above the point. Since the volume of one mole of the evaporated gas is 22.4 liters in the normal state, the pressure in the container can be calculated from its capacity, the number of mols of the contained gas and its temperature. On the other hand, desired pressure can be produced in the container if a known number of moles of gas is introduced into the container and set at a prescribed temperature. Therefore, it can be examined by soapy water, a gas detector or the like outside the container whether there is leakage or not. This enables a simple airtightness test anywhere at any time.
