Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to improve stability in control switching while facilitating control by flowing electric current by applying a constant voltage lower than a reference value to an exhaust sensor.
CONSTITUTION: Bias circuit 16 applies voltage V1, obtained by voltage-dividing constant voltage Vc by resistances R1 and R2, to exhaust sensor 15 through resistance R0 and apparent output voltage V0 of sensor 15 is amplified by input amplifying circuit 17, whose output is sent out via output terminal 18. With voltage V1 set below reference value VS, sensor output VR when mixture concentration is rich and output VL when lean, both decrease below VS. For the purpose, the controller decides that the mixture concentration is lean without reference to the mixture concentration and exercises control so that the mixture concentration becomes rich. Then, since the open-loop control starts from the state, the engine rotation never becomes unstable due to an excessive decrease in mixture concentration in the transition. Further, voltage V1 is low and currnet inflow to the sensor is small, so that the sensor will never deteriorate.
