Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce greatly the load of the host apparatus, by converting arrangement of the character patterns which are given regardless of the details of designation for the print form into the designated print form and then delivering the print form to the printing part with every fixed bit.

CONSTITUTION: The character patterns sent from host apparatus 38 are stored temporarily in character pattern buffer 42 by an amount equivalent to, e.g., one character. Then print data control part 37 gives a command to buffer 42 based on print start command START given from apparatus 38 to send the character pattern equivalent to one character to character pattern converting part 35 with every fixed bit. With storage of the character pattern equivalent to one character, part 35 converts the arrangement of the character pattern equivalent to one character into the prescribed print form based on the details of designation given from vertical/horizontal writing FF32. After this, the print data for vertical or horizontal writing is delivered to printing part 36 with every row pattern from part 35. In such way, it is enough to send the fixed character pattern with every character.
