Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate an easy pattern process by storing the information with every picture element of the original pattern to produce the coupling signal of the pattern to the intersection of the grid axes provided to the original pattern and the directional signal of the pattern within the region enclosed by the grid axes.

CONSTITUTION: The original pattern is scanned, and the pattern information of each picture element is stored in pattern memory 30. The reference point of the original pattern is extracted 35 out of the information given from memory 30. Then both the horizontal and vertical grid line signals are supplied to grid converting circuits 39 and 41 as well as to grid point label attached circuits 40 and 42 each via grid point table 36. The horizontal and vertical grid axis compression signals are produced from the pattern information at circuits 39 and 41 to be sent to circuits 40 and 42. At circuits 40 and 42, the label signal showing the continuity of the grid intersections is produced and then sent to grid intersection 4-direction table 52 of. On the other hand, the pattern directivity is extracted 64 out of the pattern information for each mesh region and then stored in mesh region features table 65. Then an approximate pattern of the original pattern is produced from the label information of tables 52 and 64 via 8-direction correcting circuit 66 and grid intersection coupling table 67.
