Abstract

PURPOSE: A paint composition, suitable for topcoating for a car, improved in difficulties in painting, dulling of coat luster and miscibility of the resin, which is composed of an oil-free polyester containing a saturated alicyclic polybasic acid, an amino aldehyde resin, and a pigment.
CONSTITUTION: In an oil-free polyester-fased topcoat compostion, containing a binder component, composed of (A) an oil-free polyester and (B) an amino aldehyde resin, and (C) a pigment, the acid component forming the polyester in component (A) contains at least 75% of a saturated alicyclic polybasic acid and has a hydroxyl value of 60W150, and the ratio of component (A) to (B) is 60W 90pts.wt. to 40W10pts.wt., while the content of the pigment is 3W50PHR. It is not preferable to suppess the content of the total polybasic acid components in (A) and (B) below 75mol%, because of the deterioration of weather resistance and acid resistance.
