Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high removing effect for dust with minimum electric power consumption, by applying overlapped AC and DC voltage to a high voltage electrode equipped in a packed bed.
CONSTITUTION: A packed bed 9 composed on packing which is an electric insulator is used by feeding the packing through an inlet 5 between grounded electrode 3, 3' and a high voltage electrode 4 and by discharging through an outlet 6, then by feeding the packing removed from dust once again to the inlet 5 to form a circulating system. Hence granular packing having high breaking strength is preferable for the packing. The high voltage electrode 4 is connected through an insulator 7 to a high voltage generator 8, hereby AC and DC voltage are applied simultaneously. Dust-contg. gas is fed through an inlet flue 1 to the packed bed 9, where it is removed from the dust, and is discharged through an outlet flue 2.
