Abstract
PURPOSE: To control sedimentation characteristics of filter media and allow economical use of the filter media by suppling waste water into a precipitating section, allowing the same to pass through a filter section outward in horizontal flow to get rid of suspended materials, and running a chevron-type bottom rake thereby discharging the saturated filter media to outside the system.
CONSTITUTION: When raw water RW is supplied to the upper part of a precipitating section A, it flows through a distributor 9 to a filter section D via the precipitating section A. After it is removed of suspended materials in the filter section, it reaches a treated water section C. Filter media are supplied from a filter medium hopper 11 to the upper part of a filter medium layer B and subsequently reaches the filter section in the lower part. The filter media captured suspended materials is scraped out at every fixed amount and are discharged to outside the system through a discharge valve 10. When rake blades 8 rotate around a main shaft 4, their curved side contacts the filter media and acts centripetal force upon the filter media, but the force in the central direction becomes smaller on the outer side depending upon differences in an angle α. Because of this, the filter media become higher in descending speed, the nearer to the center, thus the capturing of the suspended materials in the filter section D is evenly accomplished and the filter media may be used economically.
