Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain precise duplicate articles easily and without need for electroplating by a method wherein a thermoplastic composition consisting mainly of tans- 1, 4-polyisoprene is used as a material for the matrix serving as an electrodeposition cathode.
CONSTITUTION: An electrically conductive material such as electrically conductive carbon black or the like is added to 100pts.wt. of the thermoplastic composition consisting mainly of trans-1, 4-polyisoprene, as needed, preferably in an amount of 15W100pts.wt. Then, the resulting composition is formed into a sheet or the like, hardend by heating, and pressed against a master form for templating. The templated matrix is used directly as a cathode for electrodeposition when the material composition is added with the conductive material. When the conductive material is not added, the templated matrix is further provided on its surface with a thin silver film by the silver mirror reaction or the like for imparting it with conductive property and then used as the cathode for electrodeposition.
EFFECT: The composition softens at relatively low temperature to become sufficiently fluid, and can be shaped correctly and precisely by simply pressing it against the master form.
