CONSTITUTION:In a playback running state, a handle 79' is moved to right to rotate a lever 79 counterclockwise, and then a control plate 82 for fast-forwarding/ rewinding operation is slid downward in the figure to engage the operating lever 89 of a head plate, fitted in the notch 87 of the plate 82, in another notch 86 formed successively to the notch 87, against the elastic force of a spring 90, thereby locking it at the position with a projection 88 for a stopper. Thus, the press-contacting between a pinch roller and a capstan shaft is released according to the forward movement of the head plate (movement to right in the figure) to turn a reel base 58 at a high speed through an idler roller 93, thereby taking up a magnetic tape around the reel base 58.
