Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply obtain sodium phosphate crystals by adding sodium hydroxide or a thick soln. thereof to a soln. contg. sodium phosphate.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. of sodium hydroxide is passed through an adsorbent with adsorbed phosphate ions to obtain an eluate contg. sodium phosphate at about 2.6wt% concn. and sodium hydroxide at about 7wt% concn. Solid sodium hydroxide or a thick soln. thereof is put into the eluate, agitated, and cooled to room temp. to obtain sodium phosphate crystals. By this method sodium phosphate is inexpensively recovered in the form of crystals without requiring concn.
