Abstract

PURPOSE: To extend the weight limit range of a body to be lifted, by a method wherein a hydraulic expansion jack or the like is enabled to rotate while its positioning can be adjusted by automatic centering.
CONSTITUTION: When assembling a turbine runner 26, a split step rod 1 and a bearing 3 are fixed at the lower end part of a main shaft 29. Next, the runner 26 placed on a truck 25 is positioned directly below the shaft 29, then the hydraulic expansion jack 6 and a support plate 22 are placed below the runner 26 and are aligned, after which the rod 1 at the lower end of the shaft 29 is connected with a rod 1 being incorporated in the jack 6. By operating the jack 6, the runner 26 is lifted slightly upward and is rotated with the bearing 3 as a fulcrum, whereby holes for fastening bolts of the shaft 29 and the runner 26 are aligned with each other. Then, the jack 6 is further operated so that a ratchet member 16 fitted on a piston rod 10 is engaged with a stepped part 1a of the rod 1, and the load of the runner 26 or the like is supported by the rod 1. Simultaneously, a cylinder 4 is moved upward, an upper ratchet member 13 is engaged with an upper next one of the stepped parts 1a. After lifting up the member 26 in the step-by-step manner, the runner 26 and the shaft 29 are fixed to each other.
