Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a reduction of power consumption at a telephone office without lowering the speech quality, by installing a constant current supply circuit having a monitor function puls a constant resistance current supply circuit which receives as on-off control by the control output of the constant current supply circuit between a telephone circuit and a power source. CONSTITUTION:With an off-hook of a telephone SUB, the current flows from a battery E through a constant current supply circuit 3 to a constant current supply circuit 4 via a subscriber circuit and the telephone SUB. With this constant current, the monitor circuits incorporated into the circuits 3 and 4 work respectively to supply the monitor output to a control circuit 5. The circuit 5 gives a proper command to constant resistance current circuits 1b and 2b based on the previous and present states of the subscriber circuit, and flows the detectable current through the circuits 3 and 4 until a calling mode is obtained and regardless of the length of the subscriber line. In a calling mode, the constant resistance current is supplied by the circuits 1b and 2b in order to preserve the speech quality.
