Abstract
PURPOSE: A conditioned air that is always kept saturated by spraying mists in the saturated air is directly brought into contact with the frozen food, thus thawing frozen foods of various kinds efficiently in an extremely short time without any adverse effect on the quality.
CONSTITUTION: The inner surface of the outer cylinder 2 and the outer surface of the inner cylinder 3 are perforated in the air conditioner 1 and a liquid such as water kept at 0W10°C, preferably 0W5°C, is sent from the tank 6 contg. a liquid kept at a predetermined temperature and sprayed through the perforations. A gas such as air is introduced into the conditioner 1 in the tangential direction 10 and is brought into contact with the sprayed liquid, sent to the demister 12 where the excess amount of water is removed and the air saturated in humidity and containing 0.1W20μ mists is sent to the thawing chamber 15. The air is sent in a plane through perforations H on the ceiling of the chamber 14 and brought into contact with frozen products M uniformly to effect thawing. As a result, the thawing is uniformly effected not only on the surfaces but also the whole parts, thus shortening the thawing times and minimizing the deterioration in quality.
