Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent invasion of sea water to the longitudinal direction of a hydraulic layer with maintenance of th high reliability for a long period of time by adhering with an adhesives between a buffer layer and a layer resistant to hydraulic pressure of optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Between the optical fibers 1 of a submarine cable and a buffer layer 3, and between the buffer layer 3 and a jacket 13 made of nyron or a metallic tube are adhered with an adhesives, and between the jacket 13 and the layer 5 resistant to hydraulic pressure is filled with petroleum jelly 10. Mated surfaces, divided into three parts, of the layer 5 resisting against hydraulic pressure is adhered with adhesives, on an outer side of which a metallic tube made of copper or aluminium is provided. Around the metallic tube, a wire 6 having high tensile strength is arranged, in a gap between them a material 10 being oiliness or jelly such as polybutene is filled, around th material the metallic tube 7, a polyethylene layer 8 for insulation and an outside jacket 9 are prepared. Hereby, it is possible to prevent the invasion of sea water to the longitudinal direction of the hydraulic layer 3 when the cable was cut down with maintained high reliability for a long period of time.
