Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of a rotary diamond dresser significantly with a massproduction feasible by arranging diamond grains on the inner surface of a matrix regularly at a relatively low density and a high efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A matrix 20 which serves as a female die matching the shape of a rotary diamond dresser made of graphite for instance. A resinoid based adhesive is applied evenly on the inner surface of the matrix 20 over which a polyethylene net 22, for example, is stuck with a mesh relatively larger than the size of the diamond grains 12. A plurality of concave sections having an adhesive on the bottom thereof through the meshes of the net are arranged regularly while housing one grain each. Thereafter, a base metal is formed so as to bond and retain the grains 12 by powder metallurgy or electroforming. This enables massproduction of rotary diamond dressers thereby reducing the cost thereof significantly.
