Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to executing TIG arc welding satisfactorily by a simple equipment, by inserting a pipe into a hollow of the center part of a chill strip which has been sloped so as to lower the center part, and welding a plate placed on it by means of pressing it with a pressure roller.
CONSTITUTION: When a pipe 4 is welded to a plate 3, the pipe 4 is set to a chill strip 1 and the plate 3 is placed on it. The surface of the chill strip 1 is sloped in advance so that the center part is lowered. After that, a spring 9 is compressed downward by a pressure member 6 by operating a handle 15. Accordingly, the plate 3 is pressed by a pressure roller 10 through a moving member 7. Subsequently, a position for mounting a mounting member 12 to an arm 11 is selected so that a distance between the tip of a torch 3 and the plate 13 becomes optimum for welding. In said state, the chill strip 1 is moved on rails 2 from one end of the plate to the other end, and its welding is made in order by the torch 13.
