Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain uniform coloring of high sensitivity and facilitate the manufacture of the titled composition by adding silica to a cobalt (III) complex, a photoreducing agent capable of forming a redox couple with the complex in the presence of light and a hydrogen donor. CONSTITUTION:Alkaline colloidal silica or the like of 1-10 mu particle size is added to the following three componets: a cobalt ( ) complex such as hexamminecobalt (III) acetate which generates a basic substance such as NH3 by reduction in heating, a photoreducing agent such as quinone (5,8-dihydro-1,4-naphthoquinone or the like) or aromatic disulfide which reduces the complex by photodegradation or heating, and a hydrogen donor such as polyethylene glycol or polyvinyl alcohol having H easy to activate to donate hydrogen to the photoreducing agent. Since the silica prevents the escape of NH3 or the like generated by the decomposition of the Co complex and allows amplification reaction to take place efficiently, a superior image of high sensitivity is obtd.
