CONSTITUTION:The information is recorded and reproduced by irradiating a light beam 10 which has been reduced very small, to the disklike optical recording medium 1. In this case, an optical head 7 has such means (a tracking mirror 9 and a driving circuit 11) as to deflect the irradiating direction of said light beam 10 stepwise in the radial direction of a medium 1, and also the head 7 is provided with such means (a screw stock 3, a female screw 8 and a pulse motor 6) as to shift its position intermittently in the radial direction of the medium 1. Accordingly, the fast forwarding of the head 7 is made possible.
