CONSTITUTION:Whether the spacing between a condenser lens 4 and a disc 5 is within a pulling-in range where focus control operation can be made or not is detected 1. If this spacing is not within the said range, the pulselike output of which the electric energy changes successively and stepwise at every generation period is applied 8 to the moving means 2, 3 of the lens 4, thereby bringing the distance between the lens 4 and the disc 5 gradually within the said range. According to the entry of the distance between both within the said range, the supply of the pulselike output to the means 2, 3 is prohibited and ordinary focus control is accomplished.
