Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the detection of the recirculating flow rate of the waste gas of an engine possible by detecting the difference in engine parameter with the change in the recirculating flow rate of the waste gas. CONSTITUTION:The value of one parameter is beforehand set and stored 13 in correspondence to the values of the two parameters out of the three parameters selected directly or through operation from the negative pressure of a suction pipe, the flow rate of suction air, the number of revolutions of engine, and the opening degrees of an accelerator in the operating condition of an engine 1 in which the waste gas is not recirculated. When the engine 1 is operated by accompanying recirculation of the waste gas, the three parameters are detected 8-10, and the stored data are read out in correspondence to the two parameters out of the detected values. The read out data and the detected other one parameter are compared 15, and by the difference thereof, the recirculating flow rate of the waste gas is detected 16.
