PURPOSE: To obtain air filter element having a self-fire extinguishing property and a high filtration performance by fixing a fibrous mat of acetate fibers mixed with modacrylic fibers by bonding with orthophosphate.
CONSTITUTION: The fibrous mat consisting of 10W70wt% acetate fibers and 30W 90wt% modacrylic fibers is bound and fixed by dissolving the acetate fibers in an orthophosphate, e.g., trioctyl phosphate, cresyldiphenyl phosphate, etc., containing no halogen elements. The mat manufactured by this method has a self-fire extinguishing performance which is stable for a long period of time and a safe and good dust collecting effect.
