Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a print through eliminating a deflection distortion, by applying voltages of the same polarity to charging electrodes and by giving deflecting electric fields of directions opposite to each other to adjacent ink drop currents and by inverting these directions at a required time. CONSTITUTION:Ink drops jetted from nozzles 203 are charged and controlled by charging voltages of charging electrodes 208 and are curved in directions of deflecting electric fields during passage between deflecting electrodes 209 and 210. Deflecting electrodes are so arranged that adjacent nozzles hold one deflecting electrode in common except respective one deflecting electrodes in both ends, and the same voltage is applied to every other deflecting electrodes to form deflecting electric fields of directions opposite to each other alternately. While deflecting electric fields are kept constant, data is recorded in the half part 212a of the scanning width 212. Next, it is controlled so that the directions of deflecting electric fields are inverted to record data in the rest half 212b.
