Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition with prolonged serviceable life, applicable at normal temp., which is prepared by mixing a component consisting of a urethane prepolymer, a cement and an org. phenolic compd., with a component contg. an asphalt emulsion.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture (A) of (i) 100pts.wt. terminal isocyanate group.-contg. urethane prepolymer (a reaction product from a polyol of average MW100W20,000, contg. 30wt% or less oxyethylene chain and an org. polyisocyanate), (ii) 2W 80pts.wt. cement and (iii) 0.1W5wt% org. phenolic compd., is mixed with an asphalt emulsion (B) obtd. by emulsifying an asphaltic material (e.g., straight asphalt) in water in the presence of an emulsifier and a protective colloid, to prepare a modified asphalt composition. Said components A and B are used by mixing just before use. They have serviceable life of about 15W100min and are entirely cured about 2W12hr after the serviceable life.
