Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the optimum in-focus state with a simple and inexpensive structure, by using an electrostrictive element as the support member of a lens which focuses the laser beam.
CONSTITUTION: The optical beam sent from a laser device 2 is focused by a lens 6 at a focal control part 3 and then given onto a disk 1 via a half-mirror 4 and enters an optical sensor 5. The lens 6 is held at its surroundings by an elastic holding member 7 such as rubber or the like and at the same time held by an electrostrictive element 8 made of a bimorph element at four areas. The application voltage 10 to said element 8 is controlled by a volume 11, and thus the lens is kept horizontal to the disk 1. Under such conditions, the lens 6 moves up and down to vary the spot state on the disk 1. In such way, the optimum in-focus state is ensured with a simple and inexpensive constitution.
