PURPOSE:To perform separation and analysis efficiently by flowing liquid contg. an aromatic carboxylic acid directly by using a column in which an ester type compound obtainable from polyalklyene diole and carboxylic acid is adsorbed on the carrier of a gas chromatography. CONSTITUTION:The column in which the ester type compound of a diole component, such as polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol having >=200 average mol. wt., and aliphatic and aromatic mono-, di-, tri-carboxylic acids and a carboxylic acid from their deriv. is adsorbed on the carrier of a gas chromatography, is used. The solution, prepd. by dissolving an aromatic carboxylic acid such as a benzoic acid, a terephthalic acid or the like or a monoester of dicarbon or the like in dimethyl formamide or the like is flowed in this column, and in the case of the compound of low outflow temp. such as terephthalic acid, the column temp. is raised. In this way, the carboxylic acid of the sample is separated and measured accurately without the need for making esterification or conversion to silyl compound of said acid.
