Abstract

PURPOSE: A raffinate, which is obtained by solvent extraction of a paraffinic crude oil or a mixed crude oil under conditions, is solvent extracted again and the resultant extract is purified to produce an extremely good-quality naphthenic lubricant oil base inexpensively through simple processes.
CONSTITUTION: A crude material of lubricant oil 1 is heated to 30W100°C and continuously fed to the first rotary disc type solvent extractor 2 where it is brought into contact with a solvent 3 such as furfural countercurrently. The raffinate layer 4 is transferred to the second rotary disc type solvent extractor 7 where it is brought into contact with a solvent 6. The extract layer containing the saturated component and aromatic component in appropriate amounts is sent to the solvent recovery column where stripping is effected to recover the solvent. The extract 11 is introduced into the hydrogenative purifier 16 and dewaxed to give the naphthenic lubricant base oil 20.
