Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect molding abnormality in the foam molding process by applying fixed air pressure and a fixed steam pressure to the chamber of a mold in addition to the air and steam for molding and by detecting the change of pressure difference in the chamber by means of a differential pressure gauge. CONSTITUTION:A mold cavity 30 is formed between a core mold 10 and a cavity mold 20. A fixed air pressure and a fixed steam pressure are applied to the chamber 11 of the core mold 10 and the chamber 21 of the cavity mold 20 through a pressure passage 50 provided in addition to the supply passage for molding air and steam. Pressure sensors 12 and 22 are disposed at the respective predetermined positions on the chambers 11 and 21 respectively. The pressure sensors 12 and 22 are connected to a differential pressure gauge 40 to continuously detect the pressure difference between the chambers 11 and 21. Abnormal pressure difference between the chambers 11 and 21 can be detected immediately.
