Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the quantity of the light conducted onto the surface of a photosensitive drum highly accurately by providing an optical sensor buried in the surface of said drum in the region other than the original image region. CONSTITUTION:The image of an original to be copied is projected to the shaded part S of a photosensitive drum 9 and an optical sensor 11 is buried in the part K other than this shaded part S. Namely, a recess 10 is formed in the surface of the drum 9, and the sensor 11 is fixed in the bottom of the recess 10. A right transmitting part 12 is a transparent body of glass or the like and is made to the curved shape of the same radius as that of the surface of the drum 9. Therefore, the sensor 11 is prevented from being stained by powder dusts such as the toner, and since the surface of the part 12 is cleaned by cleaning at every copying, the detection of the quantity of the light of the sensor 11 is maintained highly accurately.
