Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce carbon deposition and to make prolonged continuous operation possible, by supplying a heated heavy oil-steam mixt. to a reactor, separating a distilled component produced from a cracked residue and recycling a specified amt. of said residue to a step of heating the mixt.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy oil feed stock 1 and cracked residue 22 are pressurized by pump 3 and introduced together with steam 5 to pyrolyzer 7, where the feed stock is partially cracked. The temp. of an oil mixt. at the outlet of the pyrolyzer is to be 410W450°C. Then the mixt. is supplied to reacting evaporator 9, where it is cracked with liquid-phase retention time, based on the heavy oil, of 0.3W2hr. A distilled component is led to condenser 11 and a cracked residue remains in the bottom of the tower 9. An oil and water are condensed. The condensate and an uncondensed gas are introduced to receiver 13, from which the water is withdrawn via line 14 and a light oil via line 15. The uncondensed gas component is discharged via line 16. part of the cracked residue in the bottom of the evaporator 9 is withdrawn via line 22 and recycled in an amt. five times as much as the heavy oil feed stock.
