Abstract
PURPOSE: To offer a catalyst free from solids and having an enhanced catalytic effect, by mixing a cobalt source, water and a high-boiling organic substance at a specified ratio in the preparation of an oxo reaction catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: To 10pts.wt. cobalt is added and mixed 70W200pts.wt. water and 200W600pts.wt. high-boiling organic substance, to prepare a catalyst for use in the preparation of aldehyde by the reaction of olefin with an oxo gas in the presence of cobalt carbonyl. Owing to the mixing ratio, the obtained catalyst is free from solids and has a proper viscosity and fluidity, so that the catalyst will be easily fed to an oxo reactor. Consequently, aldehyde can be produced with high efficiency under a stable condition, while inhibiting the increase of a by-product caused by the rising of a reaction temperature.
