Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate an interference signal by effectively utilizing the magnetic flux that medium bits generate, by obtaining a read signal by summing up read signals, obtained by respective thin-film magnetic resistances at respective stages at right angles to a medium running direction after multiplying them by respective coefficients. CONSTITUTION:For example, when medium 4 is moved as shown by the arrow with regard to the relative motion between thin-film magnetic resistances 9-13, and medium 4, resistance values R of resistances 9-13 vary according to the bits of medium 4. Assuming that resistance 11 faces to a medium bit to be read, the medium bit is detected by resistance 11 and also detected by resistances 10 and 12, and 9 and 13 in front of and behind it. In this case, a target signal component is obtained in proportion to space (a). For this purpose, read signals from them are multiplied by proper coefficients respectively and the products are inputted to operational amplifier 14 for addition and subtraction, thereby outputting only the target signal component. Thus, interference signals from two continuous bits are eliminated.
