Abstract
PURPOSE: To secure a simple and safe work even for pipes being arranged in a narrow space, by installing a mechanism which locates a welding device to the pipe to be welded and which has a clamping pawl freely slidable in the direction of radius of pipe, and the second locating mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: When the welding a performed, pipe to be welded 1 is set to the central part of notch of housing supporting part 20 and second locating mechanism D is connected to pipe 1 by approaching clamping pawls 23 and 23a. Then, after material 2 is rotated for about 180° while the groove at the lower face of housing 2 is connected to connecting part 19 of material 20, materials 2 and 3 are joined to one body with bolt 11 while housing 3 is connected in the same way. Inside materials 2 and 3, two-divided drive ring 6 is held so that it may rotate in the peripheral direction of pipe 1, and welding torch 9 and electrode 10 are supported by the ring. A pair of clamping pawls 4 are fitted to materials 2 and 3, and they are fixed to pipe 1 by the sliding movement of them. After that, mechanism D is removed from pipe 1 optionally.
