Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate adjustment of tension of a cable and to improve the vibration attenuating performance of a vibration absorbing apparatus which comprises a cable connected at one end thereof an upper part of a towerlike structure such as the tower of a bridge and having at the other end a ram block depended therefrom, and an oil damper disposed cooperatively with the cable.
CONSTITUTION: Since the tower 2 of the bridge 1 is unstable against lateral load, for instance, at the time of temporary construction, it is connected to a vibration absorbing apparatus utilizing a cable system. This apparatus comprises a cable 3 connected at one end to an upper part of the tower 2 and having at the other end a ram block 4 of a predetermined weight. An intermediate part of the cable 3 is supported by a pulley 7. Further, a balancer 11 connected at one end to a part of the cable 3 located above the ram block 4 is supported on a fulcrum 12 on a base 5. Between the balancer 11 and the base 5, an oil damper 10 is disposed vertically at a position of the balancer 11 located on the side of ram block 4 in respect of exterior division. At the other end of the balancer 11, there is provided a counterweight 13 in the manner that its position is adjustable.
