PURPOSE: To prepare a developer applied to the pressure-sensitive copying paper which is excellent in coloring performance and poor in fogging and yellowing in a coating or storing time by using a copolycondensate by resol of P-displaced phenol and phenol with three or more functions as main components.
CONSTITUTION: (A), The resol obtained by reacting a P-displaced phenol (preferably, P-t-butylphenol etc.) indicated by the formula (R: 1W12C alkyl, 6W12C cycloalkyl, 7W12C aralkyl, 6W12C aryl, halogen) and the like with formaldehyde (a generating source material) under the alkaline state and (B), a phenol with three or more functions (preferably, phenol, 4, 4'-isopropylidene bis phenol etc.) are let to be condensed at rates of 1:0.4W2(mol ratio) under the acid state. Condensates by the obtained P-displaced formaldehyde with 3 or more functions are used as the developer.
