PURPOSE:To prevent a tailgate from dropping in the case that its engagement with its lower support is accidentally released by arranging the first coupling piece provided on the lower end of the tailgate and the second coupling piece provided on the rear bottom end portion of a loading box in such a manner that they are brought into face-to-fact relation when the tailgate is upwardly open. CONSTITUTION:When a tailgate is opened upward, a lower spindle 7 is held by a lower support 5, which is composed of a hook 8 and a bearing 11, and in the meantime an upper spindle 6 is detached from an upper support 3 mounted on a loading box 1. Then, the tailgate 2 is pivoted about the lower spindle 7 and opened upward, and held horizontally by means of a chain 21. In this case, in the condition that the tailgate 2 is held horizontally, a coupling surface 18 of an L-shaped coupling piece 17, which is fixedly mounted on the bottom end portion of the tailgate 2, is faced with a coupling surface 20 of an L-shaped coupling piece 19, which is mounted on a panel 10 of the rear bottom end portion of the loading box 1. Consequently, even if an accidental disengagement between the hook 8 and the lower spindle 7 occurs due to vibrations or the like, the tailgate 2 can be prevented from dropping.
