Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a flaw and wear on inner circumferential surfaces of the pin bore in a magnesium alloy piston used for an internal combustion engine, by forming a wear resistant film on the inner circumferential surfaces of the pin bore. CONSTITUTION:In a compression ring grooved part 2 and land part 3 of a piston main body 1 made of magnesium alloy, is provided a fiber reinforced layer 4 in which a fiber or the like is processed packing compound by the method of high pressure solidification cating. Between the bottom part of an oil ring grooved part 5 and a pin bore 7 formed in a pin boss 6, an oil feed hole 8 is formed to partially guide lubricating oil to inner circumferential surfaces of the pin bore 7. An excessive amount of lubricating oil is discharged downward of the pin boss 6 via a drain oil hole 9. A wear resistant film 10 about 5-30mu thick is formed on the inner circumferential surfaces of the before described pin bore 7 by the method of ion plating or explosion flame spraying used with molybdenum, tungsten or the like or other hard chrome plating, dispersion nickel plating or the like.
