Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a molded article which is suitable for use as a fiber or a film and in which surface characteristics and mechanical performance are improved, by a method wherein a specified org. material is added to a thermoplastic resin to obtain a resin compsn. which is then melt-molded.
CONSTITUTION: A noncrystalline polymer (which has a glass transition temp. of not lower than 150°C and is nonreactive with thermoplastic resins mentioned below) such as a polysulfone of the formula (wherein n is 60W120), is added to a thermoplastic resin. Namely, 1W15wt% noncrystalline polymer is added to the thermoplastic resin [e.g. polybutylene terephthalate or polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity (in o-chlorophenol soln. at 35°C) of 0.4 or above] before or after the completion of the polymn. of said resin. The resulting mixt. is melt-molded Hemispherical smooth convex parts are formed on the surface of the resulting molded article. As compared with conventional articles in which a fine inorg. powder is dispersed, the above molded article is superior in gloss (matting) and frictional characteristics (smoothness) to the conventional articles.
