Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the intrusion of air in a gel filled in a battery container, by, after inserting a gel-injection nozzle into the battery container, injecting the gel into the battery container while displacing the free end of the nozzle away relative from the battery container in proportion to the amount of the gel to be injected. CONSTITUTION:A gel 2 is filled in a bore 9 of a metering supply cylinder by slidingly displacing a piston 8 upwardly. A battery container 15 is lifted upwards by a lifting rod 16 until the inner bottom wall of the battery container 15 reaches substantially the free end of a nozzle 13. Thereafter, the piston 8 is displaced downwards so as to discharge the gel 2, which has filled up the bore 9 of the metering supply cylinder, through the free end portion of an orifice 14 of the nozzle 13. In proportion to the amount of the gel to be discharged, the lifting rod 16 is slowly lowered, thereby filling the battery container 15 with the gel 2 from the inner bottom wall and up to the upper portion of the same without permitting air to intrude in the gel 2.
