Abstract
PURPOSE:To contract the captioned article simply, promptly and with high working efficiency without necessitating any annexed equipment by a method wherein a substance developing heat upon reacting to oxygen and water is provided at the contracting part of the heat-shrinkable article. CONSTITUTION:Na2S, as a heat developing substance, is provided on the heat- shrinkable sleeve 3 consisting of polyolefin or the like to form a heat developing layer 5. Further thereon, a heat-insulating layer 6, preventing the heat dissipation of the heat developing substance, increasing a heat shrinking efficiency and having air permeability, is provided, furthermore, a shielding layer 7, shielding normally the invasion of oxygen and water into the heat developing substance side, is provided thereon. When the heat-shrinkable sleeve of such constitution is covered around a cable 1, for example, and the tape of the shielding layer 7 is peeled, oxygen and water in atmosphere arrive at the heat developing layer 5 through the heat- insulating layer 6 and react chemically to the heat developing substance in the layer 5 to develop heat, thereby causing the contraction and fusion bonding of the sleeve 3.
