Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable secondary charging over the entire surface of a photoreceptor to be accomplished uniformly over the entire surface with simple construction by extending a plurality of discharge wires within a secondary charger, and providing one wire out of these in the position closer to the photoreceptor than the other wires. CONSTITUTION:A charging device 14 is housed in a shield case 30 in which the primary charger 15 and secondary charger 16 of double construction are constructed in one piece. In addition, for example, three pieces of discharge wires 37a-37c are extended in the shield case 30 of the secondary charger 16, and these wired 37a-37c extend in the width direction of a photoreceptor 10 and are disposed along the rotating direction A of the photoreceptor 10, so that the secondary charging of the reversed polarity of the primary charging is carried out.
